Men's Basketball: Rob Senderoff on the MAC Tournament

The Golden Flashes head coach discusses the preparation that goes into the Mid-American Conference Men's Basketball Tournament.

The team practices in Kent today and then leaves for Cleveland tomorrow for an afternoon workout at Quicken Loans Arena. Tournament action gets underway for the Flashes on Thursday against the winner of Wednesday night's game between Akron and Western Michigan.

Video Blog: Rob Senderoff previews Akron and looks back at inspiration behind Tuesday win at BGSU

The regular-season finale couldn't be much bigger for Kent State ... hosting Akron with the chance to cut down the nets.

A win and the Golden Flashes will at the very least clinch a share of the MAC East Division title along with a top-4 seed in next week's MAC Tournament. An overall MAC Regular Season Championship and the No. 1 seed are also still in play.

The first 1,000 students will get a FREE "Beat Akron" T-shirt.

As of Thursday morning, general admission seats and some tickets in the lower level were still available.

To get you ready for tomorrow, head coach Rob Senderoff previews Senior Night and the battle with Akron and also looks back at Tuesday night's big win at Bowling Green. Some of the inspiration for that victory was found in looking back at Kent State alum Julian Edelman and the New England Patriots comeback in the Super Bowl.

Video Blog: Rob Senderoff previews Saturday vs. Buffalo and looks back a frustrating loss at Miami

The Golden Flashes head coach looks back at Tuesday's disappointing loss to Miami, then discusses what his team needs to do bounce back on Saturday in a key battle with Buffalo at the M.A.C. Center.

Kent State begins the weekend in a tie for first place in the Mid-American Conference's East Division  with Bowling Green. Buffalo is just a game back.



Saturday's game is also Social Media Night with the first 500 students getting FREE T-shirts.

Video Blog: Rob Senderoff previews a difficult week on the road at Akron and Toledo

The Golden Flashes are one of four teams sharing the Mid-American Conference's best record at 7-3. This week, they play on the road against two of the other 7-3 teams – tonight at Akron and Friday night at Toledo.

In today's video blog, Rob Senderoff looks back at a big win over Miami that saw the Flashes take the floor with only eight available scholarship players. Senderoff also previews the Akron and Toledo games.

Video Blog: Rob Senderoff on team dealing with Jimmy Hall's illness

The team received some bad news when leading scorer and rebounder Jimmy Hall was diagnosed with mononucleosis this week. The Flashes will lose his 30 minutes and his production for at least another week before his next visit with team doctors.

In today's video blog, Senderoff discusses how the team is dealing with his illness along with the continued absence of point guard Kellon Thomas, who is scheduled for surgery this week.

The Golden Flashes head coach previews Tuesday's battle of Mid-American Conference Division leaders. Kent State hosts Central Michigan on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. Senderoff also looks back at wins over Toledo and Ball State last week.


Everyone with Kent State Men's Basketball hopes to see you at the M.A.C. Center on Tuesday night. It should be a good one.

Video Blog: Rob Senderoff on wins over Eastern Michigan and Ohio, and how the crowd helped

The Golden Flashes head coach looks back at wins over Eastern Michigan & Ohio and talks about what kind of a lift his team received from a big crowd on Saturday during Neon Night vs. the Bobcats.



The Flashes are back at home on Wednesday night for a big Mid-American cross-division game against pre-season league favorite Toledo. The Rockets boast one of the league's most potent offenses featuring an explosive scorer in Julius Brown (15.9 ppg) and and a big-time athlete in J.D. Weatherspoon (13.6 ppg, 7.7 rpg).

It's going to be a big challenge, and the Flashes will need a game-changing crowd similar to the one that packed the M.A.C. Center on Saturday night.
